Break-even calculator

Where does per-seat stop being cheaper?

We won't quote anyone else's price — they change, and half the figures online contradict each other. You have the invoice. Put your number in and we'll do the arithmetic in front of you.

Anyone who creates or edits, not read-only viewers.

$/mo

From your invoice. The rate you actually pay, not list price.

One vision, one business model, one shared body of product data.

Set to zero if headcount is flat.

Who would read customer evidence if a licence were free.

At 12 contributors, your current per-seat tool costs about $8,496 a year; Shorter Loop costs $4,800. Break-even is 7 contributors — you’re past it.

Our line is flat and per-seat isn't. That's the whole argument, and it's the only one we'll make about price.

And 14 people at your company can’t see a word of customer evidence today, because seeing it costs money. Here it doesn’t.

Why we won't just publish their price.

Because we'd get it wrong. Pricing in this category changes more than once a year, discounts are negotiated, and the "verified" figures on comparison sites contradict each other — six sources gave six different numbers for the same plan when we last checked.

Publishing a competitor's price we can't stand behind would be the one invented number on a site built on not inventing numbers. So we publish ours, show the arithmetic, and let you supply the rest.

What the flat line is actually for.

The money is the visible part. The part that costs more is who gets left off the licence.

You don't add the engineer. So the engineer never sees the customer. That isn't a budget problem — it's an evidence problem.

Every seat-priced tool makes you ration. The support lead who talks to forty customers a week doesn't get a login. The designer gets read-only and stops opening it. Then decisions drift away from evidence, and nobody can point at when it started.

A tool for shared understanding that charges per person who shares the understanding is selling you the disease. That's why the line is flat — not to be cheap, but so nobody has to be argued for.

If it said stay put, stay put.

Below break-even a per-seat tool is cheaper and we'd be the worse purchase. We'd rather tell you now than have you resent it in a quarter. Come back when you've hired.
