Solution · Customer evidence

Connect customer evidence to product decisions.

Customer evidence usually enters the organization through different systems: support tickets, sales calls, interviews, surveys, analytics, and feedback portals. Shorter Loop keeps those signals connected to the opportunities, assumptions, and decisions they inform, so teams can see where a product idea came from and what the evidence actually supports.
Customer evidence can inform a decision without dictating it. Shorter Loop keeps the source visible so teams can make that distinction themselves.

The problem

Customer evidence becomes less useful when the reasoning around it disappears.

Most teams do not lack customer data. They lack a reliable way to connect individual signals to the product reasoning that follows. By the time an idea reaches a roadmap, the original interview, complaint, behavioral signal, or support pattern may be several steps away.
1

Requests are counted before the underlying problem is understood.

Ten customers asking for the same feature can look like a strong signal. They may be describing the same underlying problem, several different problems, or a workaround shaped by the product they already know. Frequency is useful, but it is not the whole interpretation.

2

Research summaries replace the original evidence.

A research note or AI summary can make large volumes of feedback easier to process. It can also hide nuance, disagreement, customer segment, or the exact wording that made the signal meaningful. When the source disappears, later reviewers have to trust the interpretation.

3

Evidence is attached to ideas instead of claims.

A roadmap item may have several interview links or feedback records attached to it. That still does not show which part of the proposed solution those sources support, or whether the evidence only supports the existence of the problem.

4

The evidence changes, but the decision does not.

New feedback, a changed segment, or behavioral data can weaken an earlier interpretation. If the decision and its evidence live in different places, the roadmap can continue carrying an assumption that the research no longer supports.

What needs to stay connected

Follow the path from customer signal to product decision.

The useful unit is not a pile of feedback. It is the relationship between a source, the interpretation made from it, the opportunity it supports, and the decision that follows. Shorter Loop keeps those relationships explicit.
Source
Where did the signal come from: an interview, support ticket, survey, sales conversation, behavioral event, or another source?
Customer context
Which customer, segment, account, or user type does the evidence represent, and which groups are absent?
Observation
What did the customer actually say or do before anyone interpreted it?
Interpretation
What do we think the observation means, and how confident are we in that interpretation?
Opportunity
What problem or unmet need does the evidence support?
Decision
What did the team decide to investigate, prioritize, test, or build because of that evidence?

How Shorter Loop helps

Keep the source material close enough to challenge the interpretation.

Shorter Loop automates the mechanical parts of bringing evidence together, while people still decide what the evidence means. Connected sources can feed customer signals into one evidence layer; Sage can suggest patterns and summarize them; the team decides whether those patterns represent a real opportunity and what to do next.

01 · Collect

Bring customer signals into one evidence layer

Connected sources can bring feedback, support conversations, surveys, and other customer signals into Shorter Loop automatically. Uploaded research and notes can be added directly. Source, customer, and product context remain attached so the evidence does not have to be recopied into a narrative first.

02 · Interpret

Turn patterns into opportunities without losing the source

Shorter Loop can detect related signals and Sage can propose clusters and summaries. A person decides whether the pattern is meaningful enough to promote into an opportunity. When it is promoted, links to the original customer statements remain attached for review.

03 · Carry forward

Keep evidence connected as decisions move downstream

Once evidence is linked to an opportunity or decision, Shorter Loop preserves those relationships as the work moves into assumptions, experiments, prioritization, and roadmap work. New evidence can be surfaced against the same chain; the team decides whether the interpretation or decision should change.

Sage

Sage can synthesize the evidence without hiding where it came from.

Sage can answer questions across many customer signals, but the answer should remain inspectable. It can summarize patterns, identify disagreement, and point to the source material behind the synthesis rather than asking the team to trust an unsupported conclusion.

What customer evidence cannot tell you by itself

Customers can describe their experience without specifying your product strategy.

Feedback frequency does not automatically establish importance. Interviews can reveal needs without proving market size. A requested feature is not necessarily the best solution to the problem behind it. Shorter Loop can preserve and organize the evidence, but teams still need judgment about representation, business relevance, behavior, and trade-offs.

Example · Demo data

A feature request becomes more useful when the underlying evidence stays visible.

This is illustrative demo data, not a customer result. It shows the difference between treating requests as votes and treating them as evidence that needs interpretation.

Before

Customers want bulk user import

18 requestsEnterprise accountsHigh priority

The request count looks persuasive, but the product team cannot tell whether every customer is describing the same problem or whether bulk import is the right response.

  • Which customers asked for it?
  • What job were they trying to complete?
  • How often does the problem occur?
  • Are there behavioral signals beyond the requests?
  • What alternative explanations exist?
The team has a popular feature request, but not yet a clear opportunity.

In Shorter Loop

Reduce the effort of setting up large workspaces

Sources
18 requests across support, sales notes, and interviews.
Customer context
Mostly workspace admins at accounts with more than 100 users.
Observed behavior
Admins spend repeated sessions creating users and correcting role assignments.
Original request
Bulk user import.
Underlying opportunity
Reduce setup effort and errors for large workspaces.
Interpretation
Import speed matters, but role assignment errors appear to be a separate part of the problem.
Assumption
A CSV import flow will reduce setup time without increasing permission errors.
Next step
Test import and role-mapping concepts separately before committing to a full solution.
The feature request remains useful evidence, but the decision is now based on the problem behind it rather than the request count alone.

Relevant capabilities

Several parts of Shorter Loop keep customer evidence usable.

The goal is not to create another feedback database. The evidence becomes useful when it can move into product reasoning without losing its source, context, or uncertainty.

Feedback

Feedback ingestion and clustering

Bring signals from multiple channels together, detect related items, and organize them without turning every request into a roadmap item.

Discovery

Opportunities

Turn a feedback pattern into an opportunity while retaining links to the original customer statements that support it.

Reasoning

Evidence and assumptions

Keep observations, interpretations, assumptions, and experiments distinct so that evidence for the problem is not mistaken for evidence for the solution.

AI

Sage synthesis

Ask questions across large volumes of customer evidence and inspect the sources behind the answer.
